A rain-affected match between New Zealand and South Africa on the 26th of March 1999 sowed the seeds for modern-day T20 cricket.

The rain had eaten up a lot of game time and the match was reduced to 40 overs a side.

New Zealand batted first and was bowled out for 191 runs in 38.4 overs.

South Africa, in reply, chased the target down off the final ball of their innings, thanks to a hurricane 35 off 19 balls by Lance Klusener.
